The Civil Aviation Authority of Republic of Moldova will take part in the investigation of the aviation occurrence in Ivory Coast

A team of experts from the Civil Aviation Authority of Republic of Moldova will travel in the immediate future to Ivory Coast in order to assist, as technical experts, the investigation team, in charge with determining the causes of the fatal crash of An-26 aircraft, registered in the Republic of Moldova pending formal request from the State of Occurrence – Ivory Coast.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Republic of Moldova has been notified by the civil aviation authorities of Ivory Coast of the accident occurred near the airport of Abidjan on 14 October 2017. The aircraft, operated by Valan International Cargo Charter, was carrying cargo under a contract for the French army.

The CAA of the Republic of Moldova maintains permanent contact with the Ivory Coast concerned authorities – Civil Aviation Authority and Accidents Investigation Office, for the purposes of establishing the identity crewmembers and of the victims, as well as for obtaining the latest data on the circumstances of the aviation occurrence.

According to preliminary information, at the moment of the crash, Abidjan was facing severe weather conditions, caused by a strong storm.
